Specifications: 287 sq. ft. interior plus 287 sq. ft. loft, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, Footprint: 16′ x 30′
Description: Here’s a dirt-cheap energy-efficient design that’s simple to build. This is a good starter project. Features include a loft for sleeping and office space, and south-facing windows for excellent solar gain and daylighting. Earth berming and simple curves helps the Natural House blend into its environment.
Cool 🙂
I want to learn to build this 🙂
Is there a book or DVD you recommend ?
I’d need a plan modified to work in New England, that’s cold winters with lots of snow and humid summers (Why the h3ll do I live here ?). Do your plans work in those climates ?
And I must say, what an amazing site – I found this from Google and I really enjoy your designs! Round is natural 🙂
Keep up the good work 🙂

Thanks. My new earthbag book is ‘finished’ to a degree, all except for some glitches. Today the Table of Content links suddenly quit working. Every few days there’s another glitch. It should be available in a few days. Watch our Earthbag Building Blog for the announcement. http://earthbagbuilding.wordpress.com/
The companion earthbag building video is 99% finished but a professional videographer convinced me to edit it some more. So there’s another month delay on the video. It seems the last 1% is the toughest part.
I modify the plans for a modest fee so they work in different climates. Order the plan through Dream Green Homes and we’ll work out the details.

My Earthbag Building Guide and earthbag DVD are both finished!

Does the Natural House have a shed style roof? Is the earth berming crucial for this design (does it provide some sort of structural support)? Thanks
It has a hip roof as shown, but you could use other roof designs. Just go to any truss company and they will design the trusses for free as part of your order.
The berm is just a suggestion to improve energy efficiency.
