Earthbag Cluster Lodging
Specifications: 94 sq. ft. interior per unit, Footprint: 11′ x 13′
Description: These small shelters provide lodging for all types of sustainable communities, including ecovillages, training centers, youth camps, spiritual retreats, eco-resorts, and for refugee and natural disaster relief efforts. The curved shape adds interest and stability, while relatively straight end walls enable units to be joined for maximum efficiency. The design below shows two units joined together. Many other combinations are possible. Note: this plan is now listed in the free shelter category.

Wow, these are cool.
It doesn’t show up in this view, but you can have squared or rounded ends on the roof — whatever look you are after. I think this design would look really cool with a thatched roof.
Note there are windows on two walls for good ventilation. Also, I have a plan with these units clustered in a C shape so there’s a covered central courtyard. Each time you add another unit you save one wall. A pole frame with roof can be built first and the walls built later.
Do you have any circle buildings?
Yes. Look on the right side of the web page for Categories. Then click on Round.
How do you go about purchasing the blueprints for this design?
You can order through Dream Green Homes: http://www.dreamgreenhomes.com/materials/earth/earthbags.htm

The cost is $300.
All the designs you’ve put up seem interesting; I’ve just recently discovered the cost savings and usefulness of stuff like earthbags/compressed earth blocks. This is so small I could probably build one in my backyard without having to get permission from the city. I’m in Mississippi; generally we get very hot summers and mild winters (gets below freezing at night occasionally but not often).
Eventually I’ll get a patch of land and build something like the Economizer. Thank you for the inspiration!
