Attached Greenhouse w/ Vertical Glazing West Elevation
Specifications: 9′ wide interior, any length desired, 36″ grow bed, Footprint: 9-1/2′ x desired length
Description: This earthbag greenhouse will fit with most of my 2-story house plans. Vertical glazing makes it suitable for most climates. Patio door replacement glass reduces costs. Super-insulated design allows for year-round use, with excess heat used to heat the house. Highly moisture resistant earthbag construction.
Glad I found this site…. would like to add this onto existing stick built home…. possible ? Concerned about the transition area from bag to siding… also looking to use recycled sliding doors for the windows, placed on a south facing angle giving 9 ft of usable patio + 2-3 ft of growing bed.
keep up the good work. Hope to join you one day in a workshop.

Siding to earthbag connection: Use expanded metal lath bent in an L-shape. Nail to the siding, pin into the bags.
Glazing: It’s been designed for patio door replacement glass. This is the lowest cost method.
So is it just the roof that is glass? The walls are all earthbag?
No glass on the roof. That would rapidly overheat in most climates. The glass (glazing) is vertical. It’s sized to utilize standard patio door replacement glass, which is the lowest cost glazing available. The earthbags are used for the lower wall, including the foundation. Scoria bags are insulating and therefore recommended in cold climates.
